
ABOUT MS. PHUONG NGUYEN

Ms. Nguyen's Welcome,
I have been teaching math at John C. Fremont Magnet High School in South Los Angeles for 10 years. I came to the United States in August of 1991 and attended Harbor City Elementary School. I was the oldest female in my graduating class because of my English limited speaking skills. Even though I am the oldest, but I had receive 2 Scholarships and Citizenship Trophies from my school district.

I went on to Alexander Fleming Middle School and was received a gold medal in History on my middle school promotion ceremony. In addition, I was on Principal Honors Roll for 3 consecutive years at Fleming MS.
After that, I went to Nathaniel Narbonne High School and continue to be on honor roll for 4 more years. I graduated from Narbonne with a GPA of 3.59 and was rank number 21 out of 525 graduating seniors. In addition, I was part of the Junior Statesman of America and receive 3 scholarships from: Northrop Grumman, First Chance Foundation, TRW- Vietnam Memorial Scholarships.

Lastly, I went to Cal State University of Dominguez Hills and major in Mathematics Education and was named high honor within my major. I further my education by getting a Master of Arts in Math Education with a GPA of 3.898 and receive numerous scholarships such as: William Randolph Hearst Scholar, California State University Board of Trustees Scholar, Leo F. Cain Scholar, Naomi Byers Scholar, SMART Grants, and Fremont Alumni Foundation for Educator Awards for Excellence.
